These are super inexpensive to make, and quick & easy too. A can of ASDA’s Smart Price pre-cooked potatoes is only 19p!
The only real fat content comes from a few squirts of Fry Light – and a lot of that stays on the baking tray.
These are totally vegan. Obviously, being potatoes, they wouldn’t be ideal for those on a low-carb diet. If you’re following a low-fat diet, these will become your favourite accompaniment to a main meal, or a snack to share.
First, add the following herbs and spices to a bowl:
2 tspns regular white sugar
2 tspns regular table salt
1/2 tspn turmeric
1 tspn dried parsley
1 tspn ready-ground black pepper
1/2 tspn ground ginger
1 tspn onion granules
1/2 tspn Cayenne pepper
1 & 1/2 tspns smoked paprika
Line a baking tray with foil, and spray with four or five squirts of Fry Light.
Using a spoon, sprinkle half the spice mix onto the greased tray.
Open & drain the canned potatoes, and slice each potato in half, lengthways.
Place the potato halves evenly onto the baking tray.
Sprinkle the rest of the spice mix onto the tops of the potato halves, and spray another four or five squirts of Fry Light, on top.
Bake uncovered at the top of your oven, at 200° for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, turn the halves upside-down (using a tablespoon works best), and roast for another ten minutes.
That’s pretty much it. Barely any washing-up to do, and unbelievably quick & easy!
